If you are wondering what I have been up to lately, here’s a sneak peek of it. I am writing a book titled, “The Faeron”. I can’t really give you much details without giving away the storyline, but my (awesome) friend Connora designed the cover for me.
I had to go through a photo shoot with a flower to get the right ‘pose’. I took the picture of the flower on the front, and yes it is a flower. (My mom thought it was a brain) Connora then flipped the flower upside down, sharpened it, then converted it to grayscale, then he put a purple gradient over it, and here it is:

And here’s an exerpt from my chapter 1. It’s definitely not the entire chapter.
Chapter 1
It was the first day of high school. I walked into my home room of Glory High. There he was, sitting so gracefully on the tip of the chair. It was the new boy; I had seen him once or twice at the pool. He was different then most boys, he seemed gentler. He was a good height and was taller then me, which is hard to accomplish. I’m pretty tall and I am not very athletic. My friends call me Lanky Liz, not in a bad way I guess. I have luscious brown hair with deep amber eyes. I guess you could call me some type of pretty. But he was not just “a type of pretty,” he was gorgeous. He had a full head of sandy blonde hair that flipped at the tips. His eyes were a blue arctic ice and seemed to glee with elation. A laugh escaped from his mouth and quickly tried to hide it again. I came back from dreamland. “Hello, umm excuse me?” the boy said. “Who me?” I dazzled. “Yes you, I was just wondering what your next class is.” He replied. My face flushed a deep tomato red. “By the way I’m Cole Richardson, I just moved here from…California.” He said again, looking almost embarrassed. “Oh that’s nice, I’m Liz Grant. My next class is gym, where are you going?” I spoke fluently. “I’m going to Gym too.” Cole smiled. Oh no, not Gym. I am terrible at sports, I would only look like a fool in front of him. “Fun, you can walk with me if you want because you don’t know your way, right?” I smiled back. “Well actually I do, but I will walk with you anyways.” He said cheerfully. “That sounds good. So, what part of California?” I asked. Cole winced. “Erm, I can’t really remember actually. I’m pretty forgetful, you know?” he lied. I shrugged my shoulders, “Of course…so are you any good at sports?” “Well, I don’t mean to boast about it…but I guess you could say that.” He replied with a twisted smile. When we got in the gym, he strut his soccer skills. He would breeze by defenders, leaving them frozen in their tracks. “Hey Liz, I saw you walking to class with Cole…” my best friend Nathalie nudged me. “Nat, it’s not like that. I don’t like him like him.” I said with an immature smirk. She was egging me on. “Be real, it’s the first day of school. He is probably a complete jerk like every other guy in this school.” I said with a twirl. I added, “I’m going to go to class now.” “Sure you don’t want me to get Cole to walk you there?” She added with a delighted laugh. I wouldn’t mind his company, but I would never let her win the argument. I heard running footsteps behind me. Someone icy grabbed my shoulder. “Wait up!” I stopped and turned around. “Oh it’s you Cole…” I said, thinking Nat was right. “Something wrong?” he said quickly. I looked around, “Nope,” I said pausing, “You really showed those boys in Gym class.” He was obviously flattered and tried to change the subject. “Mind if I walk with you?” He said so casually like he’s done this a million times. I stopped for a second and looked at him, “Of course, but in return, tell me what your secret for being brilliant at sports is?” I arched one eyebrow. He fumbled in his pockets, taking out odd looking coins and stuffing them back in. “It runs in the family I guess, we are all fast and smooth in our flyi….” Then he quickly shut his mouth. “Huh?” I asked confused. I tried to shrug it off. “Hey are you getting shorter or am I getting taller?” I said with a little fake laugh. “What?! Oh man, I gotta go. See you around Liz.” He said shakily. “But why? You’re gonna skip class?” I said as he turned his back. He grunted, “Not exactly, but look…I’ll tell you some another day, bye Liz!” “Bye Cole?” I said awfully confused. He dashed out of the school doors, and once I blinked he was gone. The next week Cole wasn’t at school, and I thought about him a lot. Who was this mysterious guy that shows up for one day?
I haven’t seperated it into paragraphs yet, but that is just a page from Chapter 1. I am hoping to one day get it published, so I am really working hard on it!
If you would like to read the story as I write it, add me on MSN (Lauren_Ziek@live.com) I will e-mail you the book, if I trust you with it. I will only allow a couple of people to do this, because I don’t want anyone taking my work and claiming it as their own!
By the way, I’m on chapter 17 right now.

Connora’s Edit:
Ziek, I updated the cover with the most recent version.
-Does the little happy dance- I am like so far the only other person she’s sharing it with, and let me tell you, it’s a realllllyyyyyyy good story
And every chapter ends with a cliffhanger, just how I like it! Nice job Ziek! Oh yeah, and if you think she was copying Twilight at all, since it’s pretty similar, she wrote this part a week before she read Twilight
Plus, the storyline completely changes
WAITTTTT- you’re on Chapter 17? Er… I’ll be waiting for chapter 16
Thanks for the comments!
